This is a wonderfully morbid photograph which was taken in 1882 of the infamous French diva and actress Sarah Bernhardt who was fascinated with skulls, bats, and death; she purchased the sumptuous Rosewood coffin which she kept it in her bedroom, and was fond of memorizing her lines whilst reclining in its’ satin lined splendour.

"When Mme. Bernhardt is world-weary she gets into this coffin, covering herself with faded wreaths and flowers, folds her hands across her breast and, her eyes closed, bids a temporary farewell to life. A lighted candle on a votary table at her left and a death skull grinning on the floor add to the illusion. It is only when dinner is announced that the tragedienne opens her eyes and once more takes a languid interest in things material."

Grotto Canyon Trail:

6 miles and 1,000ft elevation gain

The views of Ha Ling were amazing, but today's hike is my favorite so far! The beginning was underwhelming, but All-Trails mentioned that. Once we got to the canyon it was AMAZING! I love rock hopping so much. You weave back and forth across the stream all the way up the canyon for the entire 2nd half of the hike. The waterfall was gorgeous, and the cairn garden is pretty cool too. There were a few groups of climbers that we were able to watch, as well. It's much warmer here today, so the shade in the canyon was nice!

I had the opportunity to visit the Star Trek Experience in Fort Ticonderoga, New York, USA and it was so much fun, which features a rebuilt set for the Original Series Enterprise. It is a true labor of love and a great repository of Trek history. They are also always adding things (currently they are working on adding a Next Gen set). They also frequently host events featuring Trek actors. Highly recommend checking it out if you ever get a chance.
